Tallinn, Estonia
Tallinn, Estonia (June 8, 2015)
We sailed overnight from St. Petersburg to Tallinn, Estonia. We were late arriving because of our delayed departure from St. Petersburg, but we still had plenty of time as the town center was not very large.
The original entrance to the picturesque Old Town
The Town Hall Square, the center of the Old Town which dates from the Middle Ages.
Entertainment on a side street
Narrow streets lead away from the Town Hall Square.
The streets are inevitable lined with shops and restaurants
The St Nicholas Church, built around 1420. now houses an art museum and is sometimes used for concerts. We didn't go inside.
The Church of the Holy Spirit, built in the 14th century and one of the oldest structures in Tallinn.
The clock in the facade dates from the 17th century.
The inside has very fine wood carving and the the altar dates to 1483.
There's an interesting Memorial for British sailors who died in the Baltic during World War 1
After walking around the back streets, we made our back to the Town Hall Square where a market was in full swing and then back to the ship.
Time for a rest and a read before the ship sailed for Stockholm
